Resistant Dextrin

Resistant dextrin is a soluble dietary fiber made from starch (usually from corn, wheat, or potato) that has been processed so the body cannot fully digest it in the small intestine.

Because it “resists” digestion, it passes into the large intestine, where beneficial gut bacteria ferment it. This process is why it’s called resistant dextrin and why it’s considered a prebiotic fiber.

You’ll often find resistant dextrin in:

fiber supplements
functional beverages
protein powders and nutrition products
low-sugar or low-calorie foods

Supports Gut Health

Resistant dextrin acts as a prebiotic, meaning it feeds beneficial bacteria in the gut. This can: • increase beneficial microbes • improve digestive balance • produce short-chain fatty acids that support colon health A healthier gut microbiome is linked to better digestion and stronger immunity.

Helps Improve Digestion

As a soluble fiber, resistant dextrin helps regulate bowel movements. Possible digestive benefits include: • improved stool consistency • reduced constipation • better overall digestive comfort It is often well tolerated compared with some other fibers.

Low-Calorie Fiber Source

Since resistant dextrin isn’t fully digested, it provides very few calories compared with digestible carbohydrates. This makes it useful for: • low-calorie foods • sugar reduction formulations • functional nutrition products
